Precision Report: how we will measure.

In December 2026 we plan to publish how accurate our cost estimates are on ten Swiss projects that were not used to build, tune, or test TECTIC. This is the method, published before the results.

01

What we measure

  • Deviation per item: for every item our estimate covers, the absolute percentage difference from the price in the awarded offer. We report the median and the 90th percentile.
  • Deviation per BKP main group: the difference between our estimate and the awarded offer, summed per group.
  • Omissions: the share of items in the awarded offer that our estimate did not contain.
02

Which projects

  • Ten Swiss projects that were not used to build, tune, or test TECTIC.
  • Before we run the estimates, we will publish a dated fingerprint (hash) of the project list here, so the selection cannot change afterward.
03

What we compare against

  • The awarded offer for each BKP main group. Where no offer was awarded, the lowest complete offer; we will mark these cases.
04

How we report

  • Per project and in total, with the phase in which the estimate was made.
  • Every result, including the projects where we miss.
  • For context only: a total-cost estimate is typically expected to be accurate to ±25% in the feasibility study (SIA 21), ±15% in the preliminary design (SIA 31), and ±10% in the construction project phase (SIA 32). These ranges describe the total, not individual items.1
05

What we do not claim

  • Ten projects are a start, not a proof. We will say where the sample is too small to generalize.
  • The exclusion of these projects from our training and tuning data is our own declaration. The published hash fixes the list; it does not verify the exclusion. We will name an independent party if one agrees to attest it.
